WWLP is the group within Microsoft responsible for licensing our products and online services to organizational customers - commercial enterprises, governments, and academic institutions. As part of WWLP, you’ll help drive nearly half of the company’s revenues while dealing with some of the most exciting business challenges facing the company today.
As technology trends erupt, competitors react, and our own products evolve, the person filling this job will be involved in high-profile decision with long-term impact on the strategic direction for our product-development teams. Recent licensing issues in which the product-licensing strategy team is playing a key role include alternative computing models, Services plus Software, Cloud Computing, and server and desktop virtualization. People in this role interact regularly with VP's, General Managers, Directors, channel partners, and customers. You will work with a team of experts across BG, volume licensing, segments, field, legal, channel, and finance. Job responsibilities include designing new business models for a portfolio of our products that may include offerings like Windows Server, Windows 7, Office, and SQL and to support the commercial launch of new offerings. Responsibilities also include understanding customers’ use scenarios for the technology; working with the product teams to assess strategic and financial impacts of different licensing models; and collaborating with legal, communications, licensing programs, and sales teams to finalize those licensing policies. Skills and qualifications: Exceptional critical thinking skills, Ability to think strategically about technology and its business implications, Top-tier problem-solving skills, Achieve results despite ambiguity, Excellent communication skills Work well in cross-group collaborative situations, 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in consulting, business model development, business development, or business management Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technology with an MBA strongly preferred, Familiarity with current Microsoft licensing models preferred.
