Position Overview: As the Senior Product Manager, you will act as the group product manager for Expedia’s global Online Partner Marketing team (OPM). This position will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing and Strategy and will have frequent and significant exposure to the Expedia executive team. The Senior Manager will manage products from ideation through execution. As such, you must possess experience in ‘hands-on’ product management, having a track record of success shipping product at an Internet or ecommerce company. You must possess a unique blend of technical and business savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. Responsibilities • Business owner for managing new product development for medium-term (6-18 month) team initiatives requiring significant technology investment • Pilot integrations with existing partners and trouble-shoot on new technologies • • Be detail-oriented and believe that details matter greatly to the success of the product • Tease out and really understand customer requirements and needs by interviewing internal and external users and really probe to get to the heart of the requirement or driver • Get into the weeds of defining the product specifications, and working with engineering on UI, architectural designs and delivery schedules • Make trade-off decisions with engineering and senior management on product/feature schedules • Work very well cross functionally (internally and externally) to gather requirements, design, build, launch and maintain the product • Own and communicate effectively the product vision/direction and roadmap. Be the product evangelist • When needed, step above the weeds to think strategically about the business, business cases and conduct market/competitive research • Comfortable operating in an agile product development environment, and across time zones (given the global nature of our team) • Project manage one or multiple product development programs at the same time • Perhaps in the future, manage a team of junior product managers or product analysts • Presentation of results to the senior leadership of Expedia • Clearly defining and communicating scope, goals and objectives • Overall ownership of the execution of your strategy • Technical documentation for partner-facing services and tools
Qualifications • 7+ years minimum experience required, prefer 3+ years in product marketing or consulting • MBA required • E-commerce, Internet, travel, or consumer/retail experience a plus • Solid interpersonal skills (externally and internally at all levels) • Demonstrated experience communicating with senior managers • Proven track record of defining and executing key analyses with minimal supervision • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and demonstrated experience in modeling, analysis, research, and presentation creation • Experience managing large, cross-functional projects • Aptitude to operate and thrive in a multi-tasking, fast-paced environment • A professional ‘get it done’ attitude and work ethic
