Director of Product Management (Seattle)

TeraHop Networks Inc. is a manufacturer of asset monitoring and portable networking devices with offices in Seattle, WA and Alpharetta, GA. Companies use our proprietary, non-subscription-based technology, to cut costs and increase efficiency in the management of their critical, on-site assets like heavy equipment, inventory and employees. We offer solutions for a wide range of industries including: construction, manufacturing, yard management, emergency response and intermodal logistics.

We are seeking a Director of Product Management who is motivated and ready for an opportunity to work in a fast paced, team-oriented environment. The qualified individual will develop product and design requirements to meet specific vertical market needs and work closely with TeraHop’s engineering staff and external partners in the development of products and vertical market solutions that meet customer needs and provide TeraHop with a competitive advantage.

Role Responsibilities:
As the Director of Product Management, your key responsibilities will include:
• Drive product strategy and determine the optimum mix between resources, features, and timing for new products and schedule new releases based on market drivers and the TeraHop’s strategic priorities.
• Write product and design requirement documents and ensure clear communication of product requirements to the development and business teams.
• Work with senior management in selecting the sequence and timing of product development and market entry.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the TeraHop’s customers, prospects and partners to gain first-hand knowledge of their needs and maintain continuous dialogue with sales, marketing, and other internal personnel.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant markets including: competitive landscapes, customer/industry trends, and communicate appropriate information internally.
• Manage customer trials of new products.
• Develop and maintain product-pricing strategies.
• Develop external product communications, including positioning and product differentiation.
• Work closely with marketing to develop and launch go-to-market plans that ensure sales readiness.
• Participate in TeraHop and customer trade shows including on-site customer visits.
• Manage business relationships with partners.

Job Qualifications:
• 10+ years of progressive experience in a commercial technology environment, including previous Product Management Director level experience.
• Proven ability to develop product and design requirements that are responsive to market needs and provide sufficient guidance, clarity, and completeness to the development organization so that they can plan and execute programs on time and within budget.
• An undergraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science is a strong plus. Alternatively, a degree in Marketing is acceptable based upon the individual’s proven record of working in a highly technical environment.
• Previous experience in the development or application of wireless networking hardware including; RF, RFID, GPS and/or network-based products is preferred.
• Ability to travel to customer sites, company offices and trade shows 10-15% of the time.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with a sense of humor.
• Strong cross-functional management and influencing skills – product management is the interface point between Sales, Product Strategy, Development, Brand Marketing and Field Marketing, candidate will demonstrate an ability to drive contributions from every area.
• Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing architectural concepts, schedule tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members.
• Excellent presentation skills and a demonstrated ability to speak comfortably in small and large groups. Candidate must have an aptitude for leading an interactive working group, as well as delivering scripted presentations.
• Strong research skills and an ability to find information on your product, target industries and customers using internal and external sources.
• Nimbleness and comfort with ambiguity; a track record of responding quickly to rapidly evolving opportunities.
• Strong bias for action; ability to juggle multiple projects and create a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Well organized with strong time management skills.
