The Senior Director of Search Monetization leads a global team responsible for pricing, policy, financial analysis, and delivery configuration of our search advertising marketplace.
The Search Monetization Group is accountable for improving the yield of our online advertising offerings including search ads, search ads syndication, and contents ads. The group is also responsible for marketplace health initiatives (like fraud detection, smart pricing, etc.) from business perspective.
Responsibilities: Define the key measurements, metrics and controls required to understand and influence the marketplaces across tactics, verticals and keywords Create and execute the daily monitoring of key metrics and drivers for the network marketplaces o Work in conjunction with the ops teams to correlate system and network performance with material changes to the health metrics of the marketplace. Develop deep understanding of the drivers of Marketplace health and performance to inform decisions and future design needs. o Develop and carry out experiments and measure results to test hypotheses. o Analyze impact of internally-controlled and external factors that drive changes in economics. Gather input, make decisions, and execute controls to affect positive change in the Marketplaces, as measured by the key metrics. o Analyze marketplace performance, develop specific recommendations, drive agreement across the organizations and institute the appropriate changes into the marketplace and monitor and communicate the results. o Act as the coordination team to gather relevant metrics to help manage and influence the overall performance. o Ensure the appropriate financial modeling is performed prior to any significant change introduced into the marketplace based upon recommendations from the MOC. Communicate key aspects of Marketplace health, decisions, and impact to business and customer teams. Use knowledge, analysis, and understanding to provide input and make recommendations to RnR and Product Management teams o Work with the Marketplace design and product management teams to help define additional marketplace features that to improve the overall health and viability of the marketplace. o Provide input and guidance to the RnR teams to help define controls and dials need to influence and stimulate the global marketplaces. o Work with the PM teams to create management and monitoring capabilities
The Senior Director of Search Monetization will manage a team responsible for: • Marketplace Management • Evaluation of flights, settings, and marketplace configuration • Analysis and determination of policies • Drive the execution of key global monetization initiatives • ROB / Business Management • Articulation and presentation of drivers of financial performance • Assessment and implementation of corrective actions • Work with key constituents that are impacted by the search ad network - including Bing and other syndication partners • Marketplace Analysis / Modeling • Understand advertiser and publisher behavior and key marketplace dynamics • Build models and expertise to better anticipate and forecast likely outcomes of business decisions • Support of Line of Business Owner • Work closely with the product planning and marketing teams under the GM, Search Networks • Guide overall search advertising • Analyze possible efforts to improve matching, ranking, and pricing systems • Work with program managers to evaluate alternatives and drive product development

Key Competencies & Experience • Analytically & strategically focused - ability to drive analysis and draw strategic conclusions for investment and business; advocate for what is in the best interest of the overall business • Phenomenal operator - Organized and methodical execution of complicated initiatives • Great communicator and leader - across customers, dispersed field teams, executives, engineers and partners • Self-starter - capability to build team, chart strategies and manage business on own • 5+ years of management experience - managing teams, demonstrated mgmt skills, organizational agility, cross-group collaboration • At least 7-10+ years experience in digital advertising, advertising sales and/or marketing, search, product management. Paid search experience highly preferred. Advanced degree in in economics, finances, statistics, econometrics, or computer science, or engineer related business. PhD a plus.
