Job Summary and Mission
This job contributes to Starbucks success by supporting the development and implementation of integrated initiatives for new products and product-related opportunities within a category. Supports strategic assessments of products and provides consultation to operating units to support achievement of Starbucks financial and business objectives. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists with the development of category plans. Prepares written communications such as plans, creative briefs, meeting recaps and project recommendations. Develops agendas and distribute promotion meeting minutes.
  • Establishes and builds working relationships with regional, business unit category teams, and cross-functional groups to create and adapt meaningful promotions for markets.
  • Maintains cross-functional relationships with appropriate departments to support new product development. Monitors production and delivery status with other business units.
  • Analyzes consumer research to generate recommendations and confirm new category opportunities.
  • Assists with product strategies, activities and project plans to other business units, departments and leaders to ensure integration and support for program and initiatives.
  • Creates and maintains program management tools for regional teams to use in the execution of initiatives at the market level. Applies or customizes existing tools and processes for regional and market use.
  • Supports development of business cases for new products or programs to support market growth strategies and profitability targets. Manages integrated launch programs for products, including product direction, marketing plans and store operations and supply chain requirements.
  • Leads, develops or coordinates cross-functional project teams in support or execution of marketing and product activities. Develops, manages and tracks, timelines and processes from kickoff to execution. Establishes and maintains processes to ensure effective and timely development and execution of programs.
  • May track program and product performance, gathers consumer insights and evaluates program effectiveness. Shares findings with business units and other departments and integrates findings into future activities and initiatives.
  • Builds skills and enhances knowledge of all team members.

Qualifications

Summary of Experience
  • Experience in product or brand management, and financial understanding of a retail or packaged goods environment - 2 years
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to leading cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliverables - 2 years
  • Support the development of new product concepts or programs from conception through implementation - 2 years
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Organization, planning skills and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the team
  • Ability to analyze business trends and financial metrics, including sales, return on investments, and profit and loss
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Starbucks retail experience and/or international product experience preferred
