Think about impacting 1 out of every 2 people online--in innovative and imaginative ways that are uniquely Yahoo!. We do just that each and every day, and you could too. After all, it's big thinkers like you who will create the next generation of Internet experiences for consumers and advertisers across the globe. Now's the time to show the world what you've got. Put your ideas to work for over half a billion people.
BrowserPlus is a Yahoo! supported open source project whose aim is to accelerate the evolution of the web: we make it possible to deploy new features to all popular browsers in weeks rather than years. The BrowserPlus platform has been installed by tens of millions of web users and is behind some of the most interesting new emerging features on Yahoo! sites, as well as several other sites across the web.
We need a hero:
A talented person who can push BrowserPlus to its full potential as an open platform which allows an unprecedented level of distributed experimentation and development on the core web platform. To accomplish this audacious goal you will engage and support companies and teams using the platform by making sure they receive support when they need it. You will manage the online presence of BrowserPlus to promote awareness and understanding of the platform. You will reach out to different teams inside and outside of Yahoo! to help build advanced features into other platforms and products. You'll ensure that BrowserPlus is represented at all appropriate events, and will think of creative ways to encourage developers to apply and ultimately meaningfully contribute to the project.
Leveraging the context gained from a deep engagement with both the development team and community you will lead the discussion of the direction and priorities of the BrowserPlus project.
The majority of the following is true for the perfect candidate. You...
- are efficient working in a geographically distributed team.
- are willing to travel a a couple times a month (or live in the bay area).
- are a superlative and empathetic communicator.
- enjoy developing beautiful english prose.
- function independently, proactively seeking feedback as required.
- are highly social and enjoy meeting new people in a business context.
- would classify yourself as way more technical than the average product manager.
- understand how the web works and various pertinent technologies fit together (css, js, HTTP, REST, JSON, flash, silverlight, etc.)
- given lemons, make lemonade.
If we're describing you, and you're excited by the possibility of meaningfully contributing to the web, we'd love to hear from you.
