Online advertising is a $40B industry worldwide and represents one of the highest potential growth areas for Microsoft.

The Marketplace Planning Team is responsible for guiding technological advancement of Microsoft’s display advertising platform to generate more revenue for publishers, more return on investment for advertisers and more relevance for consumers. The group is also responsible for prioritizing and coordinating display advertising pilot programs that test new technologies and ways of doing business.

This position will be responsible for building business cases to justify platform investments; researching and writing Market Requirements Documents and coordinating and prioritizing pilots. The position will interface with a number of different functional groups including other product managers, software engineers, program managers, analysts, product marketers, and strategists.

High-level responsibilities will include:
Researching and synthesizing market requirements
Assessing the value of opportunities
Documenting the different scenarios under each opportunity
Assisting in the prioritization of engineering investments
Assisting in the design of technical solutions
Determining flight plans and measurement of new platform features
Cataloging pilots
Creating framework for mitigating pilot risk and maximizing learning
Helping define the long term platform monetization vision

Qualifications:
6-10+ years in one or more of the following fields: revenue management, product planning, product management, program management, or product marketing
3+ years in one or more of the following industries Advertising (online preferred), Airline, Hotel or other industry dealing with perishable goods.
Experience assessing financial or economic impact of addressing market opportunities
Ability to perform analysis and lead analytical teams on complex quantitative problems
Post-graduate degree in economics, statistics, operations research, mathematics or engineering preferred
