The Sr. Product Planner for Fraud Detection & Remediation sits on the Marketplace Quality Planning team (within the Auction Monetization Group), and will be responsible for product and business management aspects of Microsoft Advertising’s fraud detection and remediation efforts. This person will work closely with engineers/program managers, operations teams, compliance managers, and analysts. S/he will drive toward continuous improvement in fraud detection, fraud tools, customer experience, cost savings, and the development of a world-class fraud management program. There are numerous types of fraud at issue here, but the primary workstreams center around payment fraud, auction fraud, and click fraud.
In particular, the Sr. Product Planner for Fraud Detection & Remediation will be responsible for:
Developing and sharing product/program strategy, in close conjunction with engineering partners
Writing market requirements documents based on extensive research, understanding of industry-leading technologies, and vision for the fraud detection program
o Feature prioritization (decision-maker between market & dev)
o Internal communication & signoff
o Ongoing revision (enhancements, maintenance, schedule changes)
o Evaluation of new customers with respect to product capabilities
Creating and positioning a value proposition for the network, as relevant to fraud
Creating a next-generation vision for fraud capabilities and technologies
Working with an extended team consisting of researchers, program managers, analysts, account managers, product marketing, operations, customer support, and more
Working with operations teams to define process, ensure they have adequate tools and information to perform their jobs efficiently, and continuously drive toward process improvements and cost savings
Managing numerous projects, and managing numerous workstreams and escalation issues
Setting and driving toward marketplace KPIs
Continually improving the health of the ad network by managing fraud and maximizing the participation of legitimate advertisers
The Auctions Monetization Group, in which this position will sit, is responsible for numerous products and workstreams that are critical to marketplace health, including Smart Pricing, search ads syndication, ad quality/relevance, Content Ads, marketplace policy, fraud detection, and more. This high-visibility and highly functional group drives important initiatives from beginning to end, and works closely with executives to make continuous progress against key goals.
Qualifications:
Background in online advertising, auctions, or other dynamic/high-velocity marketplaces
5+ years in product planning, management, program management, and/or engineering, ideally for an online advertising offering, web search product, or other Internet product/service - with 3+ years spent in product management or program management roles
Passion for understanding customer/partner business needs and synthesizing detailed requirements for a technical audience
Successful experience working closely with product development teams to define, build, test, and launch new products and enhancements to existing products
Strong experience defining product processes and managing roadmaps/timelines successfully
Product/Program management experience across a wide range of end-user-facing products, internal/external tools, and infrastructure/system components
Effective, demonstrated leadership and management skills
Experience conducting focus groups, usability studies, and market research to validate product requirements and design decisions
Strong written/verbal communications skills and relationship-building skills
