Bing Mobile is at the next consumer frontier; you can lead the growth of this business. Search via the mobile phone will drive the Internet landscape for consumers and advertisers more than desktop search, but how will the business, advertising and market opportunities morph and change? What role does the ecosystem play and how will it propel our business forward? Bing Mobile is a strategic aspect of Microsoft’s plans to win Search and will become the premier service consumers rely on daily, even hourly. The business model and new opportunities are boundless.

How consumers will use their phones to conduct commerce, either through physical or online entities are at their infancy? Defining these opportunities, creating and nurturing new relationships and partnering with the Mobile advertising team to drive new forms of monetization and the mobile search product development team is the charter of this Sr. Product Management role. We are looking for a motivated, analytical and mobile industry oriented Product Manager with strong strategic thinking and business acumen to define the long term success of Bing mobile. A moderate amount of travel is expected.

Specific responsibilities include:

1) Revenue
a. Define the long range business model for mobile search, including revenue opportunity and P&L pro forma
b. Partner with the APS (ad sales) and product teams to research, define and deploy new consumer-focused advertising content that delivers great experiences for end-users and high ROI for advertisers
c. Partner with APS to ensure the right tools are in market to deliver growing revenue against the mobile search inventory
d. Track business scorecards and communicate success (or opportunity) to internal stakeholders
2) Refine our audience knowledge: Customer Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning and task analysis
a. Partner with our research leads to identify ideal consumer segments and define their needs, attitudes and beliefs
b. Develop a framework for ongoing consumer research (both qualitative and quantitative) that aligns with product development and product marketing
c. Deliver a product value proposition that offers the market winning unique and sustainable differentiation
3) Plan for the future: Product market opportunity and prioritization
a. Identify the trends impacting the mobile services industry and determine the ‘fit’ for mobile search
b. Develop and make the business case for new functionality, investments and technical partnerships
c. Establish and lead a well orchestrated and predictable market requirements (MRD) process that defines the near and long term product strategy
4) Hit the numbers: Deliver the best product to market
a. Be responsible for query volume metrics and revenue
b. Be the product expert and lead evangelist (PR/AR/influential)
c. Deliver the tools required for our global field and product marketing colleagues so they are empowered to successfully GTM with mobile search
5) International expansion, while Bing mobile is deployed in many countries and many languages, we need to develop and deliver a coherent strategy for international expansion and monetization.
a. Define the correct market expansion strategy, including how and when to go after mobile-first markets
b. Define the correct product launch criteria for markets from content acquisition, to partnerships, to field engagement for sales and marketing

Skills and Experience Desired
The ideal candidate will have more than eight years of product management, business development and consulting experience
Must be effective in leading executive level collaboration and developing internal and external partners
Proven track record building and managing a business or product
Demonstrated success engaging with engineering to deliver product improvements
Mobile industry experience is preferred
BA/BS required
MBA or other post-graduate preferred.
