Overview:

Amazon Books is building on its recently launched textbook trade-in store and is looking for a Senior Product Manager to drive key initiatives to develop this into the best buyback store available for book customers online or offline.  As the business owner for this store, the candidate will be responsible for every aspect of its success, from marketing to inventory management.  The candidate we are looking for must have a relentless focus on customer experience.  They must be highly analytical and creative, capable of utilizing in-depth business metrics and developing and driving core opportunities with all relevant cross-functional areas (e.g., Trade-in Platform Team, Seller Tools, Web Services, Payments, Legal, Tax, Operations).

 

The scope for this senior product manager includes the following:

  • Business Management:
    • Define measures of success for this new business including consumer satisfaction, increased selection, and better trade-in values.
    • Develop key metrics and performance indicators to measure overall financial performance and provide foundation for continuous improvement.
  • Product and Program Management:
    • Work with internal book category leaders and software developers to design, build, and maintain features to improve the trade-in customer experience.
    • Own and manage the product feature roadmap for the books trade-in store.  Be accountable for driving the entire product feature lifecycle: from requirements definition through integration, launch, and post launch analysis.
    • Develop long-term product roadmaps.
  • Merchandising and Marketing:
    • Drive awareness and adoption of books trade-in to the book customer community.
    • Manage onsite and email marketing promotions including SEO/SEM, and online and offline advertising

Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in product / program management, strategic planning, and will be capable of understanding and articulating Amazon.com strategic priorities. Strong computer skills required (SQL and database management skills preferred), BA/BS required and MBA preferred.  Ideal candidates will also be expected to show strength in all or most of the following:

  • bias toward data measurement and analytical decision making
  • customer insight and devotion to customer feedback
  • project management within a matrixed organization
  • oral and written communication
  • ability to work closely with a technical team
  • knowledge of Amazon systems and processes
