Position Description

The Product Manager drives the current and future financial and market success of their core product line.

Position Responsibilities

Strategic Planning
Assist with business unit strategic plan development.
Create and maintain the product roadmap.
Create global forecast for product lines.

Product Planning
Interact regularly with customers, sales, and service reps to gather input on product performance and potential product/product line enhancements.
Identify clinical/technological trends and new market opportunities (in collaboration with Clinical Marketing, R&D, Segment Marketing, and device Product Managers).
Assist in planning and execution of pre-release product evaluations.
Collaborate with R&D and Marketing representatives to determine appropriate prioritization of defined projects.

Product Management
Support new product launches.
Provide ongoing comprehensive competitive analysis for similar products.
Develop product positioning and launch collateral (in conjunction with Segment Marketing).
Determine initial product price points and manage pricing and margins on an ongoing basis.
Determine and manage distribution strategy.
Provide post-launch support materials and programs, including product discontinuation plans as appropriate.
Track product financial performance, including revenue, units sold, average selling price, margins, and cost of goods sold.

Relationship Management
Develop and maintain relationships with key functional areas within the organization (e.g. Legal, Regulatory, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Sales) to achieve timely completion of objectives.
Work effectively in a team environment, including participating in/leading cross-functional teams.
Develop and maintain relationships with OEM suppliers.
Support third party negotiations as appropriate.

Project Management
Efficiently manage flow of information required for timely execution of product marketing plans.
Ensure timely planning, organizing and execution of projects related to products assigned.
Identify and recommend improvements to work flow.

Other
Provide sales/customer support as necessary, demonstrating timely and thorough follow-up on requests.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of the therapeutic interactions of products. Also, possess a basic understanding of customer's technical language and clinical concepts.
Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Degree in business, clinical or technical field.
4 years' experience in product/marketing management role in the healthcare industry, with at least one year related to medical devices.
Experience resolving daily internal and external obstacles and challenges that affect a product/service’s financial and market success.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

MBA, ideally with concentration in marketing, healthcare field, business administration, finance, or entrepreneurship.
6+ years' experience in marketing, product management or business management role.
Experience in marketing or product management of capital goods in the medical device industry.
Demonstrated ability to independently develop and execute product strategy.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, adept in driving alignment and understanding across multiple functions (Engineering, Quality, Finance, Sales, etc).
Proven ability to drive success in a global market and in a global organization, working with different internal and external/customer cultures.
Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional product line teams.
Demonstrated ability to positively motivate sales and regional marketing managers.
Demonstrable blend of analytical and creative talent, tactical and strategic thinking, and innovative and pragmatic approaches.

15-25% travel, including 1-2 week assignments for major events (e.g. sales meetings)

Class III Medical Device, highly regulated environment
Significant use of standard office equipment including computer keyboard, monitor, and mouse, and telephone.
May require long hours during peak project periods.
